Our Approach
At Rosewood Canine, our approach is built on structure, intention, and individualized care. Our small-group, enrichment-based daycare provides a calm, balanced environment where dogs learn appropriate social skills while staying mentally and physically fulfilled. We pair this with fully customized training programs designed around each dog’s behavior, goals, and lifestyle, along with a wide variety of group classes that strengthen skills, confidence, and real-world reliability. By combining structured routines with purposeful enrichment and education, we create lasting results and well-rounded dogs.
Meet the Owner & Head Trainer
Cierra is the Owner and Head Trainer of Rosewood Canine with over 10 years of hands-on experience working with people and their pets. Her background includes volunteering and fostering with rescue organizations, taking on extreme behavioral cases, and rehabilitating feral dogs before placing them into loving, successful homes. She actively competes in PSA and AS, advanced obedience and protection sports that demand exceptional precision, control, and teamwork between dog and handler. She also trains for a variety of other sports with one of her rescues dogs including agility, urban hunting, detection, and dock diving. Beyond competition, Cierra continues to expand her skill set across multiple disciplines, training alongside other professional trainers to stay at the forefront of modern, effective dog training and is also an AKC CGC instructor and canine CPR and first aid certified. Driven by a deep passion for helping both dogs and their owners succeed, Cierra is committed to creating positive, lasting relationships built on clarity, trust, and strong communication.

Our Origin
Through years of hands-on work with dogs in a variety of environments, Cierra saw a growing need for a safer, more intentional space where dogs could learn, socialize, and thrive. Large free-play daycares and dog parks often create overstimulation, stress, and unwanted behaviors, rather than true balance and learning. Rosewood Canine was built to offer a structured, enrichment-based environment where dogs enjoy group play with clear guidance, boundaries, and purpose. This foundation allows dogs to build confidence, appropriate social skills, and lasting success both in training and everyday life.

Meet our Trainer Jess
Jess has joined us as a professional dog trainer serving Jacksonville, Surf City, Wilmington, and everywhere in between!
As Rosewood Canine continues to grow, it’s incredibly important to us that we maintain the personalized, high quality training our clients know and love. While we’re expanding our facility based programs, we’re also excited to continue offering in home training services to families throughout the area.
Jess will be offering:
- Board & Train Programs
- Private Lessons
- Group Classes
Before joining Rosewood, Jess completed mentorship programs and shadowed experienced trainers in California. After relocating to North Carolina, she’s spent the past couple of months working quietly behind the scenes with us—learning our programs, refining her skills, and soaking up as much knowledge as possible. We couldn’t be happier to officially welcome her to the team, and we know you’re going to love working with her!
A few words from Jess:
“Hi, I’m Jess! I’ve loved dogs for as long as I can remember and can’t imagine life without them. My passion for training started when I was 16 with my rescue Great Dane, Penny, and it’s only grown from there.
I have two dogs at home—Iko, a cattle dog/bully mix, and Vika, a Dutch Shepherd, as well as three cats!
My goal is to give both you and your dog the skills and confidence to navigate everyday life as a team by building a strong relationship through clear communication, owner education, trust, and confidence.
My husband and I recently moved from California to North Carolina. When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me hiking with my dogs, training for dog sports, or curled up with a good book.”
We’re beyond excited for this next chapter and can’t wait for you all to meet Jess! Be sure to say hello to her if you see her training with us at the facility and help us make her feel at home.
